Hello again! Once again I’m back after yet ANOTHER awesome show. Admittedly I was holding off writing this review because I was trying to 1) gather my thoughts and 2) gather my hearing/voice back. Okay, NOW I’m ready. Here we go, ladies and gents.

The Mothership Tour was held October 5th,…

MusicBox sent a crew from the street team to check out the Skrillex show in Baltimore. Check out Maki’s blog about it! (click the link to read her full review)

OTAKON 2011 - Sixh. Fashion Show
I had the opportunity to model in the Sixh. Fashion Show (a label under h.Naoto for those of you who are not familiar) at Otakon this year. It was a COMPLETE honor to work with such talented designers, IBI and MINT.
I was chosen to model a beautiful lace dress from IBI’s line :) They did our hair and makeup quite crazy - BIG hair and exaggerated doll-like make up. The whole experience was amazing and really fun, and I’d love to do it again!♥
[This photo was taken by a lovely photographer that attended the show (I’m not sure if she has a tumblr). Thanks Syreeta if you see this! ;3 ]

Playing catch up 7/22-8/1

Ok this was a super busy week and prob deserves more than a quick review but I’ll do my best to catch up and not leave too much out. I’m probably going to forget some stuff but you can always go stalk my facebook if you think youre missing anything :-)

7/22-7/24 The weekend was pretty quiet-took some time to rest up after NJ Warped and start getting everything ready for round 2 in MD. Days off always mean catching up on home and family stuff as well.

7/25 This was a day off for the Warped Tour and I got an invite from Kevin Lyman to meet up with him and members of the tour for a community service project they were doing in Baltimore. The project was in conjunction with Blue Water Baltimore and The Baltimore Love Project. We were breaking ground on a project called “Pavement to Prairie”. We all worked for hours with shovels and pick axes breaking up asphalt and clearing the lot. It was awesome working side by side with tour managers, artists, band members and crew for a good cause that will benefit the local community. Afterwards we had a BBQ-they brought out the entire Warped BBQ set up and everyone hung out and ate. At the end of the day there was a press conference with the mayor of Baltimore, Kevin Lyman and a bunch of local press. It really felt good to be a part of this project. Getting involved with EIY and other aspects of Warped this year has really fit in with my philosophy that MusicBox should  support not just the music community but the community at large. It is really satisfying to work with other people who share this mid set.

7/26 Maryland Warped Tour! Wow what a crazy, awesome, busy day. I had a booth for MusicBox and got about 15 street team members in to help run it throughout the day. Everyone really worked hard and we handed out tons of promo materials for our clients. The Baby Grand was set up next to us and we were right in front of the Kevin Says Stage. It was so exciting to watch them play to the hometown crowd at Warped. They had a crew with them this time so they got to really enjoy just focusing on their performance and interacting with fans throughout the day. It was awesome to reconnect with old friends on the tour and make new friends and connections. There is just something so special and unique about Warped Tour, it is one of my favorite events of the summer.

At both the Camden and MD dates we attended the EIY meet-ups. This is something set up last summer by Sarah Saturday that led to the EIY tour this year and the meet ups again this summer. The meet ups allow locals from people in the business to young people just curious about how the tour works, to local bands members to meet with Kevin Lyman and other people associated with the tour to ask questions and learn about how this crazy music business works-and how it doesn’t. Kevin had great advice for everyone and the meetings are really informative. At the MD meeting we met some young people who are interested in press and promotions and were able to get them connected with MusicBox so they can start getting involved.

7/28 This was my only day off this week-I had to upback all the Warped gear and pack up everything for OTAKON!!!

7/29-8/1 Thursday was the Otakon Matsuri (Japanese street festival). I met Josh and Kyle and got them set up with their press passes so they could cover the event for me. We went to the festival and watched Eyeshine perform. The rest of the weekend is a blur of panels (the department I work in), amazing fashion shows, concerts, video games, taking pictures of cosplayers, hanging out with my Otakon family, and just all arounf AWESOMENESS! I love this weekend and I love the people I work with at Otakon. Sunday night we have the “dead dog dinner’ for all the staff. This is a catered dinner where we all get to relax and reflect on the weekend before heading back to the real world. Monday after all the con goers have left the city the ‘family’ hung out all day in Baltimore before we made several runs of getting everyone to the airport. I miss everyone already and can’t wait till next year!!
